College Bound

Overview

At least 400 students every semester are enhancing their high school education and are earning college credit at the same time, thanks to a unique collaborative effort between the Sweetwater Union High School District and Southwestern College.

As part of the College Bound program, Sweetwater students are getting more mileage from after-school classes, like Psychology and Art. These "two-for-one" classes allow students to earn elective credits at the high school level and build up college credits that are transferable to Southwestern College or any University of California or California State University campus. Students accomplish all this without ever leaving their home campus.

How to Enroll

High school students interested in participating in the College Bound Program should contact their high school counselor at their high school site. Classes are offered fall and spring semesters.

To Apply

  1. Complete the Southwestern College online application
  2. Complete the High School Special form and return to the high school counselor

Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

FERPA mandates that while minor high school students attend college, they are considered regular college students, and the privacy of their educational records is protected. Only the student has a right to their academic record. We will not release student information to parents without the prior written consent of the student.
